D&D News and Information for Dungeon Masters and Players

My all time favorite campaign setting is Forgotten Realms. I remember hearing it was coming out in the early 80s only to wait and wait. At the time, all we had was Greyhawk. Then it came out and I rushed out and picked it up. I want to say it was 1985. To this day, I still have that box set and refer to it constantly. Since then I’ve also bought the 3E hardcover, but the old boxed set is one of the things that didn’t get destroyed in a flood or just plain disappeared.
And one of the coolest settings within the Realms was Undermountain. TSR turned the dungeon into two boxed sets, pretty much making it the largest dungeon ever. Both of these box sets are on my wish list to pick up over at RPGnow.com.
In the meantime, Wizards.com’s Forgotten Realms page is taking us back to Undermountain. There’s a very cool into., along with some beginning maps. You can check these out here:
Introduction
Room 1 - The Bottom of the Well
Room 2 - Down on their Luck
Very cool stuff. The Intro gives you the option of downloading the map of the first level. I don’t know if they’re going to keep putting out free stuff, or if this is going to lead to a “Return to Undermountain” setting. Either way, I’m taking advantage and downloading this stuff for future use.
