D&D News and Information for Dungeon Masters and Players

After flipping through the Spell Compendium, I was wondering what everyone’s thougts were on their favorite, or least favorite spells in the book. Feel free to pipe in.
I’m reading “Cell” by Stephen King and the premise of the book is that anyone who listens to their cell phone within a certain time is driven very insane. So those who were lucky enough not to have cell phones aren’t that lucky after all, because they’re living out the end of the world. The books a great read and I’m not quite half way through it but I was wondering if anyone’s ever tried running a Doomsday campaign.
So to take Stephen King’s other book, “The Stand,” you could have some nasty disease that only affects humans and humanoids so you have an end of the world type of feel. Things get pretty desolate and very wild, cities are shells of what they used to be, that kind of thing. New monsters take over, but a very small percentage of humanoids have a natural resistance so they get to live through the nightmare.
This would be more typical of a modern d20 campaign, but you could do it in a D&D setting as well.
Alright, I’m looking to expand my 3E library. Right now, I don’t have a ton of stuff. I have the three core rulebooks (v3.5), Monster Manual II, and the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting.
What I’m looking for are your favorite products (looking at things as a DM). Doesn’t matter whether it’s an offical product or third party, I just want opinions so I can evaluate what to buy next that will give me the most bang for my buck.
I own this product, and for a while Evermore Entertainment did a nice job supporting, even having a mailing list where questions were bounced around. Other then some downloads at Planet AD&D, it doesn’t appear that anyone is doing anything with this.
I know this is a 2E product, but it was very impressive product. I even had the expansion, so basically I had just about everything I needed to play the game on CD. If anyone knows of a site that supports this, or even just has some goodies for download, drop me a comment.
I ran across this looking for books at Amazon.com and really couldn’t believe my eyes. It’s supposed to incorporate every creature from Monster Manual and it retails for $100. Even the Amazon.com price of $68 is tough to swallow. Looks like reviews are mixed.
If you’ve ever played or ran this, leave a comment because I’m really interested in knowing whether this would be worth picking up.
Mine was always the Desert of Desolation series. I haven’t bought the Sandstorm supplement yet, but that’s right up my alley. Feel free to post your favorite module in the comments section.
