D&D News and Information for Dungeon Masters and Players

Wolgang Bauer published the second installment in his Adventure Builder series. This is another good one, dealing with setting the hook. One of the most important things in an adventure, setting the hook is basically establishing what the players’ reasons are for even doing what their doing. My campaign has a built in hook that lasts through out the entire thing, although this is rare. A lot of times if you hop from adventure to adventure, a hook needs to be established for each one.
If you have any interesting hooks, I’d love to hear them. Just drop a comment.
It’s that time of the month and Wizards.com did their monthly walk through of their upcoming products. While there’s some quality products coming out, there’s nothing coming out that I’d call a must buy.
Dragons of Faerun looks very interesting but I’m always a fan of dropping dragons into my campaign when I need them. The Rage of Dragons looks very cool though, so this is one where I’ll probably check it out at the story before picking it up.
The only thing that really excited me was Complete Mage, which doesn’t come out until October. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much information on this one because it’s so far away. There’s also a remake of Ravenloft which looks very cool (and nostalgic).
I got my issue of Dungeon magazine in the mail yesterday and was surprised to see the magazine has been around for 20 years. I know Dragon has been around for a long time, but I thought Dungeon was relatively new (like no more then 10-15 years). In the magazine though, I learn that it debuted in 1986. It’s a very solid issue. You get a converted high level adventure called The Mud Sorcerer’s Tomb, which originally appeared in Dungeon #37 and was chosen as the best adventure ever to appear in the magazine. You also get a preview of Savage Tide, the next adventure path that will be forthcoming in the next couple of months.
